RE

Half Term 1:

Creation

In RE we have looked at some of the questions which people have been asking about creation for a long time. We have delved into both the Scientific Truths and Theological Truths about creation. A big issue in today's world is suffering. We studies the story of 'The Fall' to help us understand how suffering came about. From this story we were able to discuss how we can become better co-creators of God's world.

Half Term 2:

God's Covenant

We have looked in depth and studied various covenants that God made with His people. Some covenants made were between God and: Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses and people living on earth since the death of Jesus Christ.

The children have loved learning all about the 'Ten Plagues of Egypt' and its significance in freeing the Jews from Egypt. Due to the children enjoying the topic so much, they have decided to focus their upcoming assembly (20th Jan) on the covenants that God made.

Half Term 3:

Inspirational People

Blessed Mother Teresa

Blessed Mother Teresa

Our 'Inspirational People' topic looks in depth at how people have had a positive impact on society. We look into the lives of many famous people such as Blessed Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Ghandi, David Beckham and many more. This topic leads perfectly into developing our own personal attributes through the John Paul II Foundation for Sports. The children will be bringing home their Values Books on a regular basis to keep you all updated on their progress.

Half Term 4:

Reconciliation

We all fall out at some time or another. So it is of the up most importance that we learn how to reconcile and tolerate the people we have fallen out with. In Year 5 we are all experts when looking at the positives in people and forgiving others who have done wrong against us.

HALF TERM 5:

Christ, the Risen Lord

How can we pray? Where can we pray? What do we pray for? This half term we will be delving deep into pray. Understanding how we can approach prayer. Much of our learning will be carried out through meditation. Children will be given the opportunity to think reflectively and develop their own spirituality.
